Ceremony Stories - Alison and Rory
This blog post, will be a little bit different.
And I hope that I don’t blow it.
But I’m digging out my digital quill,
And summoning my inner poet.
-
And with a little bit of rhyme,
I’d like to share the story;
Of a wedding day, full of heart
I shared with Alison and Rory.
Planning for this wedding started very early
We got started a full year ahead of time.
Being generous with what they shared with me, the ceremony was chock full of joy.
And waiting for the big day felt like a lifetime.
(for me anyway 😜)
-
In writing their ceremony, we wanted a few things for sure,
It was not to be too serious or formal!
We’d make it lighthearted, but wouldn’t try to be “funny”.
And something a bit different. Not exactly “normal”.
-
What we arrived at, was super special;
Nothing pretentious, posh or arty.
We just had a ceremony made especially for these two. Unique.
Perfect for their big outdoor party!
And so their wedding day finally came,
And I got a message from Willie Smith’s explaining
That we were going to move the outdoor party indoors
Because outside, all day, it was raining.
Now this was not part of the plan.
The wedding was supposed to be an outdoor service.
With the sudden change of plans, you could be forgiven
If you were to become a little bit nervous.
-
But any such nerves were forgotten
Right from the very start.
Because we had something real, something easy, something fun.
We had a ceremony with HEART.
As our bride and groom got comfortable
With being the focus for what the celebrations were about.
We turned the ceremony around on the guests!
So everyone had a chance to shout.
-
Everyone hollered their approval!
They raised the roof with their cheers.
They gave themselves permission to have a bloody good time,
And perhaps even shed a tear.
-
Then were enjoyed sharing stories;
Got to know about who they really are.
In the style of a Banjo Patterson poem.
We heard of how they met one night in a bar.
A light hearted way to get straight to the point,
Of what went through their heads when they both first appeared.
How Rory was spellbound by Ali’s big blue eyes
Of how Ali was hot for Rory’s beard.
And the wedding kept that fun all through,
Light hearted with all the feels.
We took the time to create a moment,
Of something special, memorable and real.
-
A beautiful part of our ceremony,
Was during the poem that Ali’s daughter read.
Which was quickly followed by some giggles,
When through the magnificent macramé arbour, Ali’s son poked his head 🤣
And the highlight for me, were their epic vows.
Honestly, at one point I felt I could lose it.
When Ali declared she knew it was true love,
While being serenaded with Salt-N-Pepa’s Push It.
It is always such an honour,
To tell someones rich love story.
Thanks for letting me share in your day.
💗 You’re the best! Alison and Rory 💗
